    What you receive

    • Seals, threads and coatings evaluated
    • Defects marked on the joint
    • Written inspection report
  • Clean, drift and tally

Every joint and accessory is cleaned, drifted and measured from the end of the box to the end of the pin, in feet and inches to the thousandth. Each length is recorded on our tally sheet and entered into our tally program, which takes off the manufacturer’s make-up loss for the connection. You get the actual length each joint adds to the string, and a running total that matches it as installed.

We have no stake in which connection wins.

A.E. & Sons is a certified Minority Business Enterprise, independent and impartial. We hold no vested interest in any manufacturer, threading mill or supplier, so every review and every decision we make on your pipe is objective.

  • A second set of eyes that answers to your program.

Our representatives supervise the work for you, not for a supplier.

  • Findings you can see and verify.

Defects are marked on the pipe and written into the inspection report.

  • Field knowledge across connections, materials and environments.

Depth that shows up in the calls we make on location.

Safety is a business decision, not a department.

A.E. & Sons operates in a way that protects the quality, health and safety of our employees, contractors and the environment. Health and safety considerations factor into every business decision we make, and they are never compromised for other objectives. Preventing occupational injury is our highest priority.

Leaders, employees and contractors share responsibility for safety performance. We review safety and loss performance regularly, run safety audits, and share experience and best practices inside our organization and across the industry. We have been Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) certified since inception, and our subcontractors are held to the same safe work mentality.

Credentials on the team

  • Thread Inspector Level III

Founded by a Halliburton veteran. Built by family.

The late Albert Ed Hamilton, Sr. founded A.E. Consultants, LLC, now A.E. & Sons, LLC, in Houston in 1995, after 24 years with Halliburton Oil & Gas. His goal was to lead the tubing inspection industry by giving the oil and gas industry service that is efficient, effective and affordable.

As a minority-owned business in Houston, he met real obstacles. His sons and his community kept him going, and that family foundation is still how we work. It instills pride, quality and service in every contractor who carries our name.

He was a lifelong learner and built that habit into the company. We ask our team to work with drive and to make sound decisions within their scope of authority. The standard hasn’t changed: do the job right the first time.

His eldest son, Alton “Shawn” Sells, joined the company as Vice President in 1996, a year after it was founded, and has led it as President since 2017. Over 30 years in the oilfield trade, and nearly all of them building this one.
